Sometimes we get donated bikes that we struggle to understand why anyone would part with them. This is one of those, for sure. An absolutely gorgeous De Rosa Merak in amazing condition and with a full Dura-Ace 7700 groupset. Probably made around 1998-1999, this was one the very first aluminium framesets the master builder Ugo De Rosa would have put his name to. This is a Tour de France bike. This frameset and this groupset were ridden in the 1999 tour (though not together, the De Rosa bikes we could find in the tour had Campagnolo on them). Why not relive some of the sullied glory days of cycling?
Pedigree aside, this is an amazing ride. Smooth and crisp shifting with a nifty little display integrated into the shift cable, light weight (8.5kg!!) and stiff. This is the ride of a lifetime. A super bike. Why even think twice? Even the stem bolts are titanium. Not one detail overlooked.
