How your gift helps
Many refugee women who come to the UK may not have cycled since they were a child, or never at all. Women cycling is shamed in many countries where the women we work with come from.
Not only that, for many refugee women it can be hard to make new friends and feel part of the community.
The Bike Project's Pedal Power program is a female-led, women only cycling course. With qualified instructors, class members are taking through a robust cycling training course, teaching them everything from cycling itself, to safety, to confidence.
After 8 lessons, the women graduate from the program and are donated a bike, along with a comprehensive cycling safety kit.
Learning to cycle is a lifeline for refugees who are living on £37.75 a week, and the Pedal Power students and instructors become a community. Of women, of friends, of family.
Your gift donation of £30 is enough to cover the cost of a one hour cycling lesson with a FSI female cycling instructor. Awesome!
